Champions of Love with Warren Bernhardt
Marc first heard Warren accompanying the great songwriter, Tim Hardin. In fact, that’s one reason Marc moved to Woodstock. As fate would have it, Marc wound up living in Mr. Hardin’s house and, when Tim left town, he inherited most of his band… including Warren. Marc and Warren have been friends and have played music together, on and off, ever since.
Warren was recognized as a gifted pianist from his youngest days. He concertized fairly frequently from the age of 7 to 12, playing classical music at salons and concert halls all over the East Coast. Falling in love with jazz as a young man, he toured and recorded with Jack Dejohnette, Clark Terry, Gerry Mulligan, Kenny Burrell to name a few. He has also accompanied such great singers as Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel, Donald Fagen, Carly Simon, James Brown, Richie Havens, Don McLean, Linda Ronstadt, Patti Lupone, and Liza Minnelli.
Together, Warren and Marc make a special kind of music. Unique to them and unique to the folk/jazz/blues tradition of the Woodstock. They play their songs with a feel and subtlety that is beyond category, but familiar to anyone who has felt the rhythms of life in the shadow of Overlook Mountain.
