What is a house concert, anyway?

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

With just a few weeks left, I wanted to let you know that I’m going to be in my home territory (mid-Atlantic and New England) over the next couple months.  So if you’d be interested in a house concert, I’m ready willing and able.

If you’ve never hosted a house concert, it’s really quite easy. All you need is a house and a concert.

The house, you’ve probably already got.  The concert comes with me.

Jono Manson and I

Sharing a song with the great Jono Manson at a Santa Fe house concert.

Just invite over some folks (often, but not always, for a potluck) and tell ’em the evening is gonna feature a concert by this performing songwriter from New York.  It’s cool to include my website, etc on the invitation, so they can get an idea of what I’m about.  Tell them that there will be a recommended donation of $15 per person.

The evening usually features two sets, so folks can relax and mingle a bit more in between.  The number of folks at the concerts I’ve play has ranged from 15 to 55.  It depends on how much space you’ve got, how many chairs you wanna put out and…how many folks you like to invite.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.  I hope we can put this together.  These nights are totally delightful.

Meanwhile, I wish all of you happy trails and a joyous holiday season.
